Default Ford KA Heating Matrix

Can anybody help me with the following problem?
When I drive my 2005 KA from cold the heating control inside the car works fine (turn temperature up hot, turn temperature down cold. However, if i park up for a short while and then start the car the heater blows out hot air for a short period of time until it cools back down again.
It seems that when I turn the engine off, hot water is creeping past the control valve making the heater matrix hot.

The control valve only stops the flow on 1 of the 2 pipes connected to the matrix, it sounds like its doing its job, it sounds like heat transfer.

Thanks for the reply Studabear. and I think that you are right about it being heat transfer. However, although not a problem in the winter I do not really wanting it happening in the summer.
