Default BOA starter with type 9

Hi
Which starter motor do i need with a 2.9 V6 24v cossie lump with a 3 bolt type 9 bellhousing please?
The Granada cossie with auto box had a 2 bolt starter on.
I have bought an xr4i starter with 3 bolt holes, but they are not in the right place by a fair bit. Is there a difference between 2.0 xr4i starter and 2.8 please?
Cheers
Kevin

u need a 2.8 or 2.9 starter from an xr4i or xr4x4!
2.0 xr4i ar 4pot engines yours is 6pot same as the above, even a 2.8/2.9 Granada/capri starter will work as long as its 3 hole

Hi Gerry, Nice to hear from you
It is the 2.9 flywheel i think, but only difference between that and the 2.8 is the thickness isn't it?
Hi Wes
Yes we have a knackered one that fits fine, a company has looked over it to re con it, but there arent any good bits on it eg solenoid knackered, windings shot, bearings rusted :-(
What starter would you use out of curiousity though if we could cut and shut a healthy motor onto my existing 'nose' piece?
Cheers

Don't 2.8 & 2.9 have same diameter flywheel and number of teeth, just the 2.8 is thinner and lighter?
Cheers

Hi Wes
Thank you for the help, we have used the healthy motor & solenoid from the autobox (2 bolt starter) and the flange from the 3 bolt motor - hey presto as you suggested we have a working cut/shut starter
Cheers for the advice, it has cost nothing to get a working unit.
Cheers
Kevin
