Default S2 KE jetronic help!!!!

Doing my head in now This is the last chance for my mfi before I rip it out.

Long story but I will keep it short. My S2 will not run for love nor money. Every part of the fuel system has been checked and renewed. You name it, it has been checked and renewed.

Cold start it fires up but wont idle. Then it will eventually start holding down metering flap but still wont idle and dies. Then wont restart at all.

Checked everywhere for air leaks. Had metering unit reconditioned and set up on a test rig.

Got it going once in the last 2 months, took it for a spin was running great till pulled up at lights it idled then died and wouldn't restart. Looked a right t**t.

Ive spent thousands on this car restoring it gradually. Bodywork and engine wise. Set up last year on rolling road and pumping out 215 bhp which was great. Now I want to push it in the river.

Any sympathy would be most appreciated but advice would be great.

Thanks guys

Fuel pressure was tested and ok. New uprated pump from Burton Power. These cars are so annoying. The closed loop system means just one thing a nats fart out and it will play up!!

You got a dump valve? They are known for leaking. Checked all boost pipes for leaks etc?

I love RS Turbos, but when they start misbehaving like this I hate them lol!

Although it's an expense and a pain, your best bet is to convert it to EFI from a Fiesta RS Turbo, which will eliminate the Metering unit problems for ever and you get turbo chatter as an added bonus

You are dead right. When it is running well its so good. Ive given mfi plenty of chances so efi could well be on the cards but finding all the parts for that now is quite hard. Oh happy days

Problem solved....fuel pump relay kept melting ( on my second third one now ). Fuel pump was drawing too much current on burning out the relays.

Sourced a new one through Motorsport Developments...a Bosch 941 upgrade...and with a bit of new wiring and connectors its on and running like a dream

Back on the road and running great...happy days
