Start by getting the fault codes read, the light comes on as it has logged a code.

Any half decent garage can read the fault codes for you, needs plugging in to a obd reader.

Seriously - the car has logged a fault code, it is ready to tell you what is wrong with it. Other than that it's just a guessing game, could be anything, an internet diagnosis on a vague list of symptoms is of no use.
