Default Fiesta - slight worry

Hi,

Ever since i cleaned my throttle body, ive noticed that SOMETIMES when i dip the clutch, say changing down into second, the revs will drop a bit below idle, then bounce back ..... it doesnt seem to effect the driving, but its only been doing this since i cleaned the TB and sprayed some fuel injector/carb cleaner in the air intake just to clean stuff out ....

im hoping the spray hasn't damaged anything, suddenly thought afterwards 'damn that was probably before the MAF sensor', although it claims not to harm oxygen sensors...

any advice would be muchly appreciated. i cant believe its my IACV, havent touched it! its not all the time either. strange

thanks,

Duncan

p.s. the car idles fine @ 875rpm

take it is a zetec engine, if so all I can say is taht mine does this alot, never stalls and always picks itself back up, infact alot of cars taht I have drive do it,

i would only start worrying if the car acctually dies when you come to a halt or whatever, as taht could be your ICV along with other thing

yeah its the zetec-se engine (1.25) as in my sig

Ok thanks for your reply!

I also noticed that with the air con on, and the fan blower on 3 or 4, when dipping the clutch to change down into 2nd say, i can hear a change in fan speed.. and also lights dim a bit if they're on at night.

The carb cleaner wouldnt have made the problem ive used it on many of my cars and its always done good. did you connect everything back up right. maybe worth cleaning you idling speed valve with the carb cleaner

hi akrs1: good glad to hear the carb cleaner wouldnt have hurt the MAS/MAF sensor or anything!...

i think perhaps this is just normal behaviour and i havent noticed it before, i tried dipping the clutch when going along and it just goes to idle speed... then back up when i release the clutch. the car idles fine, so im guessing the IACV etc is ok ..

im a little paranoid when i do stuff that i may have broken something! unfortunately sticky throttle was only temporarily fixed by cleaning the throttle body

i had a orion efi which used to drop the revs when dipping the clutch but picked up soon after. My rs turbo does it now and even stalls on some ocassions. If it dont stall then i shouldnt worry about it but if it revs lower than around 800rpm for a longer period when dipping the clutch then i would have it checked out
