Default Focus Sump Plug Right Or Left Hand Thread

I've got a 2010 2.0 tdci focus, I'm trying to do an oil change and managed to round off the allen key fitting have cut a slot in it and hammering the hell out of it but it won't budge, I'm starting to wonder could it be a left handed thread?

go shopping and buy a new 1 so you don`t have to re-fit some knackered part
and so you know if its left hand thread , 2 birds 1 stone

Well that was the plan but the one in the shop looked different so wanted to get this one out first and double check, the one in the shop had a rubber seal, mine has a copper one.

Exactly, there's no reason for it to be but who knows these days
I've put wd40 on, heated it up, cut a notch in it and beaten the crap out of it with a lump hammer and screwdriver, it won't budge, it's like it's welded in.

if youv`e cut a notch and its a good notch and your hitting it anyway, have you got or can you obtain an impact screwdriver, or stilsons ? they are grips (bloody good)
you could also syphon the oil through the dipstick hole if you had the proper gear
or a local quick fit type place probably use that anyway , Saturday is cash job day

I've got an impact driver but have never understood which way you're meant to turn it
There's not enough of it sticking out to get any kind of grips on it.

you apply to the part in question, it can be set to undo or tighten, so best if your unsure do a dummy run on another object first

I've tried it on things in the past and have to say it's the most useless tool I've ever bought, I don't rate them at all, it's just bouncy and to me does nothing.

you set it to undo , apply to notch add some torque from your wrist, and whack it

I understand that but I'll have to have a look at it, I know it says turn one way to undo and the other to do the opposite but doesn't specify which section you turn, I'll take a pic of it and see if that makes any sense.

you turn the springy bit, quite abit of your strength is used but don`t need to be a weightlifting "3 powershakes aday" kind of person ,
just apply some pressure on it and you will see which way its set to ,
as it will turn slightly, push it onto a slab of concrete or piece of wood
it wants to be going anti-clockwise

I've just tried it and it still won't budge, I've never been beaten doing an oil change but this time I've failed.

They are normal thread, I had one round off the other day, I chopped out the copper washer from behind it, then twatted it round with a small punch, the chisel I use was just cutting shreds off it.

Not enough depth to get grips on either!

Rubbish things..French engines, say no more..
