Default strange one

1971 beatle was starting fine .only issue was charging light was staying on
put a new regulator on it .charge battery overnight.now as soon as you put battery
on the oil and ign light comes on with key in the off possion,also the car start from the key,but it wont switch off from key,any ideas as what this could be thanks

It sounds like you may have got the wiring wrong!

i.e. a supply is coming from elsewhere, thus bypassing the ignition supply.

I assume this is a Lucas control box, go through and verify you have connected all the connections correctly!

yea that is what i said to him .but this is my mate ,he is the sort of person ,who knows everything,but knows feck all,
