I have been restoring a mk3 xr3i for the last 2 years, i have managed to get it all back together again and its running great, just as it was before i dismantled the car. But the only thing stopping me from finally getting to drive the car again after 2 years is the gear selection.

The gear stick just slops about in a circle and i cant select any gear. There doesnt seem to be a neutral gear either. There is no whining or knocking noises coming from the box when the engine is running and using the clutch makes no difference at all. I had no problems bolting the box back up to the engine and i used the original box which worked perfectly before.

Any suggestions greatly recieved.
