Hi i have a mondeo St 56 plate 155 tdci and love the car never had a problem im looking to buy another mondeo for my other half and i came across a 54 plate mondeo tdci ztech s that need a little bit of tlc but im not sure what the problem is on cold starts you have black smoke till it warms up then the car is fine

When we first bought the vehicle it was running all rough and hunting with a bit of a misfire so we replaced the following: 2 injectors (recoded by Diplocks diesel specialist), new EGR valve, tested ECU, tested Turbo. Loads of money and hours have been spent on the vehicle but we just can't get it right. It might be a case of just missing something very simple and easy and someone with a bit of mechanical knowledge can put right.

now been told only problem is the black smoke on till it warms up no more miss firing and hunting

what do you guys think was told it could be glow plugs but not sure any help would be most greatfull as i mite buy it this week end thanks

 

Don't touch it. They're not exactly rare so just buy a different one.
