Default Zetec valve stem lenght.

I'm rebuilding a silver top 2.0 zetec head, need to replace some damaged valves. The new ones I got from a supplier are identical except the stems are 1.2mm shorter than the factory valves. The supplier assures me the hydraulic tappets will take up the difference and there wont be any running problems. Anyone ever come acress this before?

Are you measuring the overall length of the valve? Or trying to measure an underhead lebgth somehow?

Is it possible the original ones have stretched that 1.2mm?

Seems like a big difference to me.

I measured the full lenght, from face to end of stem. Measured with a vernier caliper. The supplier didnt seem phased by my question at all, as if he'd been asked about it before.

what make are they? I've only ever had issues like this with really cheap stuff. I take it they're the single groove cotter, not the triple groove? as there is a length difference between silver and black top.
