If the fiesta has the origional din connections then you will just have to plug the head unit in (sometimes you need to reverse the live/ignition live). If its had the din connections cut off then its time to get your self a testlight and some connectors.
If std ford connectors then halfords do conversion plugs to std din, so just plug into loom then into head unit and slot in, no wiring to do at all, I used one on mine to fit a sony headunit in, really easy think adaptor was about £15
The conversion plug your on about Daz.....when i brought one for my cavalier i later found out all i needed todo was swap the red wire and the yellow wire, so i was miffed at spedning £10 on it! lol
Moonie.......what colour wires would need swaping around then?
And how do you tell if they need swaping? Isit if the radio works all the time and doesnt remeber any settings?

Its the permanent power feed and ignition feed (red and yellow wires) that are sometimes the wrong way round. As you say if they are the wrong way you will loose you radio preset stations when you turn the ignition off.
