taking out a 4x4 sapph cossie engine
i need to take my 4x4 saphh cossie engine out to rebuild the bottom end. how hard is it to remove? i take it i have to drop it out the bottom? any tips to help me would be good
When we did my Dad's, we dropped the engine and box down still mounted on the crosmember with all the streering and suspension still attatched. Was pretty easy this way but still just as long winded.

In a previous thread, someone said they managed to lift the car high enough to slide the engine out the front

Might have been me saying that.
This way,to me is the easiest, having done it pleanty of times.
Hook engine crane to take the weight of the engine, undo all the prop, box mounts, subframe bolts etc.....then i put a small flat trolley under the subframe and then lowered the engine down so it sits on the trolley, undo the engine crane and i hooked it onto the towing eye, then lifted the car high enough so i could wheel the engine, box etc..... all in one out around the crane legs.
Do what you have to do,wheel engine back under, lower car on stands and hook up engine, lift it back in place and bolt subframe back on.
Do get a trolley though(i used a flat crate one that bread gets wheeled around on) or you cannot get the engine ,box etc...back under the car.
i done this on my own in a few hours.
Dave.
