Default Turbo Whistling

just realised ive posted this in the wrong section

https://passionford.com/forum/ford-m...o-whistle.html

this happened last week bearing in mind i've done nothing and it seems fine now or so I think.

was driving through to durham from Newcastle got on the a1 speeded up and left a lot of black smoke, about 20mins-half an hour later got to durham accelerating up there was no boost and the turbo started to make a whistle sound.
every time I accelerated past 2000rpm the turbo made the whistle sound and there wasn't any boost. got it home opend the bonnet and noticed the pipe going to the wastegate actuator was nipped under the engine cover so moved it and didn't make any difference the higher the revs the higher the whistle.
Friday morning was showing a friend and started revving it up black smoke out the exhaust then something metal went through the exhaust could hear it ping out.
took it for a drive no whistle and car seems to be boost ok.

any thaughts? just im abit worried as to what it could be its something serious.
its mondeo zetec s 02 83000 on clock
thanks

Turbo whistle is normally created by a hairline air/vacuum leak or the turbine shaft out of balance, you have may of even sucked up a small stone or equivalent and causing the wastegate to wedge open and the noise you heard was it clearing

Are you getting any engine management/flashing glow plug lights?

I've just had to replace the EGR valve at 90k, car was smoking and loss of power, with flashing glow plug light. New valve and its fine..
Also, the hose from the intercooler to EGR valves are prone to splitting, but the split only opens up when the turbo is boosting... But you did say you checked that...!?!
If none of those are your problem, you may have a poorly turbo...
