Locked crank
Hi all I am rebuilding my cvh turbo iv put new rings big end bearings and mains in and now the crank has locked up I made shore everything was clean and used the correct toque settings, I loosened the big end bolts 1 by 1 and the crank went free when I loosened cylinder 2 big end, so I re toque up the other big ends and crank span freely un till I dun up cylinder 2 big end but I didn't need to do cylinder 2 big end up all the way only needs 15nm to lock it solid
The rings went that's why I rebuilt it and the crank span freely befor I took it apart
Thanks shane

have you put the bearings in the right way?
has the crank been reground at all?
are all the bearing shells the same size?
do they need to be matched?
does the engine use thrust washers?
is the crank straight?
are the end caps straight?
lots of things to check first, not sure how to do some of them though sorry, been a LOOOONG time since i built an engine

Great answer dojj.
Had it happen on a homebuilt cvh years ago, the end caps were off another cvh stopping the crank rotating. A line bore sorted this out . Gosnays in London did a nice job.
