Default Boost Controller?

My RS Turbo came fitted with a manual bleed valve thingy as can be seen in the pic

Are these any good or is there a better option

Ideally I would like 2 stage boost.

Cheers

Wouldnt bother mate, leave it as it, to be honest without knowing about the RS they can be a time bomb if you turn boost to high etc, whats happened to the amal valve that it used to be plugged into ?

Unless you Know about how they work mate i would leave alone, there not made for loads of modern boost crap to be fit, if it was me i would run without the manual control and have the amel valve put back on but theres no stress at the mo till you learn abit about them fella

Sounds like good advice... So how do they work? What will refitting the Amal valve do?

The amal valve fella is a boost control, keeps the engine from going bang, its linked to the ECU and controls boost pressures best thing do a google on it and you will learn more than i can tell you on here, hope that helps

Thanks, i can se what you are saying as its not linked to the ecu so has no means of safety shut off. Time for school me thinks.

without knowing the spec of the car i would say just get its health checked/set up by a reputable garage and leave. rs turbos drive quite well on these providing they are set up properly you would only be looking at £100-£150 for a set up well worth it.

Could anyone recommend somewhere. I'm near Crewe, I believe Collins don't touch anything other than Focus's anymore

I now feel educated

https://passionford.com/forum/ford-e...iscussion.html

Amal valve is what I have, but made of brass with no electrical adjustment, instead it is adjustable by the turn of a screw and so long as it was fitted competently and the rest is setup properly then it's probably fine... Always wise to check with an expert though

If the bleed valve is working correctly then I'd leave it on there but if you aren't happy and would like to have something electronic then I would recommend the Apexi AVC-R.

It seems to run fine, holds good boost. I think I'll get it over to a tuner as soon as its back from the body shop.

Anyone recommend someone?
