the guy who does the zetec conversion in my mk1 orion has a small problem with the oil pump. He said he had to order a mondeo pump but now it turns out some part numbers don't match. Is this a problem or will it just bolt straight on?

the zetec is a 1.8 from a mk6 escort (last model).

he did the conversion twice with mondeo engines and no problem with the pump.

 

You want a fiesta, escort or orion 1800 sump.
Along with matching oil pump.

Mondeo sumps are flat, where as the above have a section out of the centre for the exhaust to go through.

 

well it's an Escort 1800 engine, so the original oil pump should fit? I was told it doesn't fit and that it has to be replaced with a mondeo pump

 

Ideally you change to a fiesta oil pump as its shallower. Orrrr

Leave it alone and fit a Renault 5 oil filter as it shorter. As yo have a escort sump you don't change that either

 

people usually replace the mondeo pump with the escort/fiesta one as the escort/fiesta one is angled at the back so the filter sits in a better position whereas the mondeo one sticks straight out.

 

he said that for a Mk4 Escort a Mk6 Escort pump will work but not for a Mk3. It really does not fit on the engine mount...
