2.1 zvh cabby engine upgrades/is it worth it
Hi all reali want some advice off people regarding my mk4 escort cabby, currently a 2.15 zvh built by Norris Motorsports with a 6 speed st170 gearbox strapped to it! Goes reali well already n looks the bollocks but is in major need of new mappable management n a bigger turbo to finally finish the project but quotes received so far sound daft as over 3.5k! Any advice n feedback Wud be much appreciated to understand more n get different opinions! Thanx

Any preferences on Turbo and Management?? I'm guessing your thinking T34 and some kind of EFI setup... Depending on what you wanna spend, as always, £2300-ish minimum for basic 4x4 T34 turbo and cossie, Gotech Pro management or similar (someone else doing the work and paying labour that is) or up to £5k and very likely over if you wanna push the boat out and get a GT Series roller bearing turbo and Pectel T2/T6 or Life management. It's budget related as to what you get mate, so better off giving us done idea on that first

Woz quoted 2400 for omex management which is the best for the money I've been told n 900 for a t34 fitted! Not sayin I've been over quoted but it does sound pricey for the work that's involved! How much more power will it giv me n can a cabby shell handle it??

I can't say if youve been over quoted either if I'm honest, to many unknown variables on what you've actually been quoted on... Which Omex setup, what T34 etc etc. You could get basic management and a stage 1 T34 on the car for £2200-ish as said, or speed a fortune... It's really down to budget and preference mate. How far do you wanna go?? Do you want ALS, Launch etc etc.
As for power, that's dependent on your full engine spec... Would need a lot more detail to hazard a semi accurate guess! NMS build great engines, so should be capable of 250bhp easy but if it's a high spec Karl job, then into the 300's. Depends what spec you've got mate.
As for power in cabbie, Karlos has run high 200's if not more in his. Not had one personally, but can't imagine they'd feel to stable with that much grunt unless you speed a fortune...
Give a better idea on spec and I'm sure a few people will weigh in on it

It's a 2.15 zetec bottom end homeing vauxhall pistons built only 1200 miles ago, head has uprated cam n solid lifters, standard cossie turbo full front intercooler etc I'm concerned that the 3k I spend on management n turbo ill still be disappointed!

Which Vauxhall pistons are they? Are they the XE ones? I'm guessing they will be as yours is a 2.1ZVH... Didn't know Karl @ NMS used those pistons if I'm honest...
Providing they are the Forged XE piston (Only the early ones were forged though and think they are identifiable with a P or something stamped on the underside of the piston, the later ones though weren't forged and WON'T take anywhere near as much so be sure what ones are in there!) but if they are the forged early ones, they are proven to take 300bhp. (Some people do run more...) Anymore and you walk a fine line....
I guess then as yours is a "budget" build (no offence, but that's why these pistons are used) then you'll almost certainly be running standard zetec rods, then they are on the limit at 300bhp too. I'd be forever worried running that power on them though, especially if you got a heavy right foot
You'll be better running 280bhp I recon on a stage 3 T3 rather than a T34 (be laggy at the boost levels you'll be running) and be far more responsive with a .48 housing.
Get management, £1600 fitted and decent Stage 3 T3, £450 ish fitted (only rough idea as not had these quoted for a long time!) and run 280 safely...
It'll be quick if setup correctly and mapped well.
My 2p's worth and only my personal opinion based on what I've driven and read
