Default turbo glowing red hot

after a quick 20 minute thrash to work tonite when i stopped my car got very hot very quick, had a look under the bonnect and turbo was glowing red hot, never seen or noticed this before and woundered if it was ok or not??

not quite that bad but yes.
is it really something i should be very worried about?
i wouldnt of thought it was either of those problems as it was only mapped by Stu in December.
ive got enough things on the car to do as it is.

Nah, most turbos are designed to cope with that amount of heat. If your running a rich mixture you will get it.

the joys of having the engine behind ur head means i get to c this site as soon as iut gets a bit dark, by time im on a12 2-3 mins of 80mph and all four branches glow, it looks great, ill try get sum vids!!

A better flowing turbine wheel and housing helps a lot.

you will find that the turbine hosuing will get red hot if you're pushing it at high boost for a whaile, also if the engine tune is out (i.e., retarded ignition timing & rich fuel mixtures), the same will happen.

it shouldn't be a problem, but make sure u give the car/engine a cool down lap before switching it off.
