Hiya all, hope all is well, I need some help and advice please,
I got the Cossie out to play a week ago, while I was driving it after 25 min’s I felt that the car was not running right, idle was a bit rough, but as the journey continued the idle got worse, then at one point it cut out on me. I managed to restart it once; it took me a bit further down the road when it cut out on me again. Now stuck in the bus stop I managed to push it into a petrol station and checked inside the bay, HT leads and silly things like that. I then managed to start it after 5 min’s but all the way home the engine was misfiring like mad and at 1 point I got a pop and a bang from the exhaust. This is the point I just managed to get home and stuck it on the drive. I thought I’d get a new distributor cap, new rotary arm and group a coil pack. Ready for me to stick in the Cossie as these bits are not expensive and thought it might be these at fault. I went home after a week from having the issue and started the Cossie and was able to drive it around the block? I have not even put the new bits in.
I’m confused what it could be. When I get home I’m going to run it till it gets to temp to see if I can replicate it again, I was also thinking of getting a new Crank Position Sensor. (Am I going down the completely wrong line)
Has anyone else experienced this or know what the problem could be,
Many Thanks
Andy

Thanks for your replies JamesH and james kiely my Saff is a 2WD. It’s so annoying as I know when I take the Cossie out it will play up and leave me stranded. I’ve had the car idling outside the house for at least an hour and the car has been idling all ok and when I rev it up the car has been revving as normal
