Default Cougar MOT Failure advice needed

Hi All,

Just had my 99 Cougar 2.0 in for MOT and it failed on the following

N/S Front lower (front bush on arm) Suspension arm rubber mounting bonding deteriorated resulting in excessive movement (2.4.G.2)

O/S Front lower (front bush on arm) Suspension arm rubber mounting bonding deteriorated resulting in excessive movement (2.4.G.2)

N/S Rear upper Anti-roll bar linkage has excessive play in a pin/bush (2.4.G.2)

I know that the rear Anti Roll problem is probably best replaced with new D/Links if this is what he means ? and they seem to be cheap enough, But the Suspension arms are a 180 smackers each on ebay.. So can I replace the faulty component on the arm itself, i.e. is it just a bush? Or am I just misunderstanding what he means? If anyone can offer advice or insight I'd really appreciate it..

Thanks a lot..

Tef

If you can get the bushes then just replace them. It was me who failed it.

Well, had a word with Nick our Fitter today and he reckons bushes for the cougar are as rare as hens teeth and after googling for the last two hours with no joy I'm beginning to see his point.. Even the poly's arn't an option as the production run of the cougar was so short nobody seems to have made them..

Of course LVW don't have them and Ford at Green Lane want to sell the arm complete at gobsmacking prices!

I have heard tho' that the later mondeo's have the same arms as do the ST's so that might be an avenue of exploration... If anyone can confirm or deny?

Regards
