Fairly certain they have 2 fog lights Your mot tester sounds a bit picky!

Rear foglamp should be on the right if it only has one.

you see i checked all my lights before i went and i didnt know about the on the right or middle rule for the fog lights
my fog light is on the left and it basically is just the tail light lit up solid

i rewired the car maybe i put the right to the left by accident?
or maybe the sierra has 2?

UK MOT only requires 1 Rear Fog lamp to work but it MUST be on the Offside (Right Hand) Rear

Even if vehicle has provision for 2 rear fog lamps only the O/S/R must work

As for the split pin missing - if you cannot remove any old split pin debris simply remove castle nut and fit a new Nyloc nut

The fog light bulbs are twin filament bulbs, along with tail lights, ie next to the indicators on both sides. Often a dodgy connection or blown bulb, especially if the other side is working. If you don't have a spare bulb, swap left for right for the MOT. As said, you only have to have one but it must be to the right or centre, not just the left.
