Default Friends XReg 2001 Focus big problem

Hi Guys and Ladies,
Neighbour just popped in, told her 2 buy focus years ago, she did,all was well until last Sunday, steering fluid was leaking, called a young mechanic, he fitted a new d/shaft 350 pounds, now today the same noise turning left and right and fluid leaking again, now told her she needs new high pressure hose pipe, he said ford only sell high pressure and low pressure pipes as a set and costs 170 pounds, she has to go back on holiday to her family but is now stranded in London until this is resolved, SHE is asking for any any information on how this works, would changing the driveshaft also mean replacing the high pressure hose, and he also mentioned buying a sensor for the hose, nothing on Ford Parts for this model,,,,,so you Technical Wizards a young Damsel in Distress awaits your answers, and i cant help her as i am just as confused as she is under the bonnet..........

If it needs a hose it needs a hose. Not a lot else to say really without looking at it.
