Small turbo escort cosworth won't start...
Hi everyone... I'm sat waiting for a tow truck as I came out from work and car won't start. AA man has checked fuel ok but there is no signal to fire injectors nor any spark. Suspect crank position sensor.
Car has ford immobiliser and also a cobra which I believe just does starter and fuel pump circuits so don't think it's that.
Checked all connections etc. car only gets dry use nowadays and ran fine on way to work (35 miles) apart from one misfire about half way here which was strange.
Anyone else had similar or other ideas?

Had a look in the fusebox and swapped relays round to eliminate that. Wiring etc looks in good condition. It could be an underbonnet wiring fault but still thinking the crank sensor is most likely. I'll get one on order and change that. Hopefully will do the trick but if not more digging required.

Circuits inside my fusebox were broken. went through swapping relays, fuses, changed sensors etc, Ended up putting it to a car diagnostic place and he traced it to fusebox. Have since found out that its a very common problem on Escort cosworths the fuse box going.
Lots of info/help over on the Escortrscosworth.com forum.

The sierra has strong fuseboxes also the Scorpio MK I (before the facelift until '91) after the facelift 92 - 98 the fuseboxes weren't good sealed against water. And all other ford models have good fuseboxes I guess.

Good news.... changed the crank position sensor and now purring like a kitten again....
Just in case anyone else has trouble and wants to test... New sensor gave a reading of about 450k ohms.... whereas broken one was in excess of 1.5M ohms.... worth knowing if anyone else has same trouble and would like to test before spending £50 on a new sensor...
Thanks for any comments/advice guys....
