My 1987 1.3 escort , has always started ok , I have just changed the clutch - took the gearbox off , starter motor off etc .. Now I,ve put everything back together , it does not start ... There is no clicking noise .. There is main battery power to the starter from the big red power cable .. But there is no power on the small plug in connector on the selonoid , that wire goes into a junction at the engine fan .. The Headlights etc work when the ignition is on , can anyone help!!
I know some cars have starter Relays and safety switches but this car does not its pretty basic ... Any ideas ..thanks roy

you may have put the wire to the wrong thread on the starter
itrs blue and black or red and black i forget which
it could be clamps in between the box and engine too

does it turn over if you bridge the starter from the main pos to the switched terminal?

to test it get a bit of wire from the pos to the switched terminal see if it clicks then
be carefull tho and watch for it being in gear and running you over

It's connected up exactly the same as it was when it was working ok , there are 2 earth clamps one on the gear box and one on the starter they are on ok , have not tried bridging the starter yet .. Will give it a go .. Thanks roy
