Far more involved than you think, firstly the inlet and exhaust are on opposing sides.
You then also have suspension differences as the Zetec-E (2L) is heavier, do a search on here and you will see where someone has listed all the different things.
To answer your question, yes, Mondeo MK1/MK2 1.8/2L is the same engine as the Focus etc.
The 1600 Focus (Zetec-SE) engine was launched with the Focus and shares nothing in common with the other engines bar the name.

hi mate yeah i know the engine is the other way round as im a mechanic and work on them lol just dint know if the were edsactly the same
as for the weight im track daying the car so i have some coilovers on the way so the weight shouldnt be a problem as the kw coilovers were the same part number for the 1.8/2.0 and st170 as whats listed for mine, thank you for you time in replying, other thing was, will the gearbox have the same mounting point do you know? and the gear selector cables would they fit into the focus, if you dont know i will have to have a nosie round the next one that comes into work haha

sorry i dint mean that to sound nasty when i said "yeah i know the engine is the other way round as im a mechanic and work on them" i dint realise it sounded like that sorry fella i do appologise
Coilovers may well do but they are adjustable, but the normal spring ratings are different due to the extra weight, and in the ST's case the springs will be different as it has a lower ride height!
Not sure if the gearbox mounting points are different, probably though as the 2L has a different gearbox (MTX 75)
Yes the Focus also has selector cables so they should be interchangeable in theory.
As I say if you do a search on here there is a thread where everything is listed that needs doing.
