Default Hi Newbie here, need your help

Hi as a complete Ford Focus fan i am glad to join this forum, now i can clean and polish a car no probs, but when it comes to technical matters i am useless, here is my problem,

bought a 2nd hand F.F Ghia 1.6 3 days ago from a dealer, trouble was he wasnt a dealer with a yard he was a home dealer, never bought a second hand car so thats where it all begins, car looks good , anyway on trying the A/C in the hot weather it doesnt work, fan works on number 4 only 1/2/3 are not working or blowing air at all, took car to halfords today thought it might need topping up after a 3 hour wait he told me to bring it back on the 11th June when they will have an EXPERT there, i was surprised as i thought they would tell me what was wrong, he said i could be looking at a bill between 170 and 250 pounds for a complete diagnostic check and service.............any ideas would be appreciated....

hi mate, if the fan is only working on speed 4 u need to try a heater resistor first, common for failing on focus, fiesta etc, easy to fit aswell, try that first and see how you get on.

again thanks for quick reply, i see a lot of people have the same problem, think i will wait on my Greek friend who is coming back from Greece at the weekend, he is studying at Southgate college as a mechanic, this is way above my head, hopefully he can invite his m8s over and they can do the work for me, again thanks for your replies

Hi Tony, this probably does work in your car, i ordered one which arrived Saturday, alas i have a 2002 focus and its the wrong resistor, mine is blue in colour and is on the passenegr side, so will have to return it to the guy on e bay and see if he has the right one for my car, so to all Focus owners this is not the resistor you need, thanks anyway

Default Re Blower Resistor Focus 2002

Hi, a big thank you to all who replied to my post, i have learnt a lot from this experience, here is what happened.

1. a web link was provided to e bay to buy a resistor.

2. I ordered it.

3. It was the wrong one although it says on the site it is for this car part number was 932 FD0240.

4. I called them up and they had 1 left in stock at heathrow area, drove and collected it.

5. came home friend fixed it in about 15 mins , said a prayer and presto i now have air con.

6.The part i got from GSF CAR PARTS AND EVEN ON THEIR E BAY SITE YOU WILL GET THE WRONG RESISTOR, the resistor pat you need is 932FO0250

This is of course if your resistor is on passenger side and blue in colour, the new one is black. They even took my car reg at GSF Heathrow and it still came up with the wrong part number which is 932FO0240.

But again thanks for all your help

Hi, sorry you ordered the wrong one but I did say mine was on a Fiesta 1.4 and the part in my link was the correct one for my car.

The eBay seller is good though and I'm glad you got it sorted ok.

Glad to have helped,
Tony

. Hi Tony, no your link was great, it was his information on e bay link that was wrong, he listed that resistor ad focus and also on the box it says focus/fiesta, even when I phoned them with my reg it still showed the same part on p.c. it turns out to be oft focus .2004 onwards, so if it hadn't been for your link I would still have no a/c. So again thanks
