Did you ever fit the correct amal valve jets and get the car back on the rolling road ?

Morning All.

I’m embarrassed to admit that I have not, as my mother has been un-well, thankfully on the mend now, so it’s time to get back to my Capri. I plan on sorting the cooling issue first and then back on the rollers. I got jets made up, 1mm & 3.2mm.

Must also change my Clutch, as I have a standard clutch and it does slip in 3rd gear on the track. What clutch do people recommend for a Stage 3 set up with plenty of track days.

Thanks.

Wow, great car, love that!

Ref boost, your down everywhere so get that peak up to nearer 1.8 bar and make sure you have over 1.5bar to 6krpm and you will do well. That may require an actuator change if the history of yours is unknown as your boost is down to stage 1 by 5000rpm so all you have gained from your stage 3 is a very brief period of extra midrange torque due to lack of boost.

Tonys advice is of course perfect... like his tea

Morning All,

It's been a long time coming, but finally i got the time to get the Capri back on the rollers...

I fixed my boost leaks, and jetted the amal valve as advised, 1mm in W Port and 3.2mm in R Port.

Car now boosts up to 1.7 (25PSI), drops to 1.3 (19PSI) and then finally to 1.2 (18PSI) BHP has increased from 269 BHP to 313 BHP. Torque is up to 323 Llbs....

Ran out of time yesterday, but going to get back on the rollers again, was thinking of running either a 3.5mm or 4mm jet in the R Port to increase my held boost ??? Should i try and get my held boost closer to 1.5 bar (22 PSI) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

All my engine timing marks line up etc, but the Tuner also feels that maybe the timing of my engine may need some very minor adjustment. He suggested that i should check that Piston 1 is at it's maximum TDC at the standard timing marks by using a dial gauge, he suggested that i may have to adjust my timing slighly...

I have Vernier Cam Pulleys as well.

Thanks to everyone here who has hellped me so far...

Hi Mate, just got my local engineering shop to make them up... The material used looks like hard plastic.

Thankfully, they work a treat now as my car is coming on boost earlier now since i changed the C Port Jet.

Cheers Mate, that Header Tank is working perfectly....Thanks for that.

Yes, i still have a 3.2mm 'Jet' in the R Port, was planning on drilling that out to 3.5mm or 4mm to try and get my bost holding at 22psi...

Will certainly ask my guy to see will he make up another set, what size holes do you want in them...It's easy to drill them while they are in the lathe...

Increasing the R port jet will only increase the boost spike, not the held boost.
Therefor you should either fit a smaller jet in the C port or a stronger actuator (or increase the preload of your actuator).
