Default Fuel line

Right i had to replace my fuel line that goes from the meter unit to the tank(the return line) and i basically replaced it with a braided rubber fuel line hose.
However since then ive had all manners of problems with fuel pressure. I cannot remember if the return pipe i had previously(ford red standard) had a pin prick outlet at the end joining the the hose that goes to the tank. If this is the case then this obviously restricts pressure a bit and would help build it up. Now this new hose is totally free flowing and so i was wondering if someone could tell me/check does there return line have a small metal piece at one end(not the banjoo end btw) that would restrict flow?
Cheers
