R1 Carbs Down hill Idle problems 1650 xflow
Anyone know anything about R1 carbs? Fitted to 1650 xflow, having problems when the car is facing downhill - Car will run fine for a few minutes then engine will start to die, petrol pours out of the over flow (assume it's flooding).
Told its using a bike pump but its mounted high in the engine bay and when the car is struggling to idle the pump is clunking like mad, I assume pumping too much fuel. Heard that with Bike pumps they work better when mounted close to the tank as they push fuel better than they pull - this true?
When I say overflow thats what I assume it is - It's an open end 'T' joint on the incoming fuel rail - The pump is connected to a joint at the bulk head side of the rail and the open end is towards the front of the car.
The car will tick over fine on the flat or facing up hill - It's only when it's facing down hill I am having the problem.
The carbs and manifold were supplied to the previous owner by Bogg Brothers back last September fully reworked and ready to fit.
Any Ideas?
