Theres a how to guide here

http://www.xrweb.co.uk/code/fuel.htm

Chances are someones just stuck the computer in the dash instead of the coin holder so none of the wiring etc willl be there (if it is the wiring multiplug will be there somewhere) the extra bits you need are the fuel flow sensor and the speed sensor, speed sensors ok as all MFI RST's/ XR3's/ Orion ghias with the computer and all post 90 EFI XR3/ Orion ghias are fitted with one, it goes on the top of your gearbox where the speedo cable goes in betwwen the speedo cable and gearbox, the fuel flow sensor is harder to get hold of as only the MFI cars with the computer fitted as an option have them ( EFI cars use an output from the ECU) the sensor fits on the side of the metering head.
The wiring to the fuel sender is already there under the back seat.
Even if you can't get hold of all the sensors you can wire the power supplies and fuel sender in and it will give you the miles remaining function (based on a default mpg of about 25mpg)
