Default ST170 engine light/oil pressure problems

Hi
I'm new here and wondered if anyone could give me some advice.

I've had an ST170 54 plate 2 litre 48,000 miles which I've had for 2 months. The engine warning light came on unexpectedly on Friday and now stays on, and the oil pressure gauge goes immediately to the centre of the dial when the engine is turned on. When I drive at sped, the arm on the gauge heads up towards the top of the dial.

Does it seem like the oil isn't pumping around enough? If I change the filter, will this help?

The car seems to have been well maintained.

Thanks in advance.

is the operation of the gauge different to what is was. It sounds ok as when the revs rise so does oil pressure. but it should drop slighty at idel when warmed up.
for management light you need to get fault code checked . sometimes the lambda sensor is to blame.
