hi i have a xr3i i need to find out where the pipe goes too from the advance module ( i think thats what its called ) which is the vacum valve thing on the distributor , i have a picture here off one where does the pipe go off the nipple which is circled on the picture ? as it must have something on it or go somewhere
thanks hope some one can help

It has a vacuum pipe that goes between there and the inlet manifold this is what controls your advance/retard mechanism

hope thats a random pic, it goes to the correct nipple on the manfold, you need to get it right because not having it on will fook you idle up and wont correct your timing too

yeh this is a random picture , i think that one is off a rs turbo
is that the inlet manifold ? there is two nipples on the under neath sort off inline with the distributor , il try take a pic in a bit

it connects to the pipe before the butterfly in the throttle otherwise your idle speed will be advanced

Worth checking the diaphragm is intact by sucking on the vacuum port. More often than not, they're buggered, so there's no vacuum advance anyway, and air will be drawn in during idle. If it's leaking, you're better off plugging the hole in the manifold, and leave it disconnected until you can find another distributer or good vac unit. Only really advances during the overrun and part throttle cruising when manifold vacuum is high anyway.....
