Default boring engine swap

Hi guys,im after a bit of advice.Weve got a mk 3.5 fiesta with the 1.3HCS rattler, and basicaly want rid of the engine. The body is in really good shape, with only a little patch on the arch neeeded, and im respraying it next year.Obviously wed love to stick a zetec into it,but its not going to be possible at the moment due to insurance, anyway. What i want to know is,what would be a easy-ish conversion, with around the same cc?Ive seen a decent price Endura E 1.3 engine, and read that the HCS and Endura E are virtually the same?Is this a decent engine or is it just a rattler like the HCS?Any engines you guys can suggest?thanks in advance

A mk3.5 would be single port injection...

might be a faulty temp sensor, making the engine run constantly rich in warm-up mode... does it run quite hot?

Ya its a SPI,did think it was the temp sender keeping the auto choke on.But i tried bridging the wires to "fool" the carb into thinking it had warmed up,but it made no difference.

Have you had it on a co2 meater at all?? To check that it is over fueling? Or are you gessing its over fueling because you can see the fuel going in? What does it run like? And black smoke at all?

it runs ok!quite rattly,i do adjust tappets quite regular. No black smoke, but the exhaust fumes reak of petrol, and emissions were off the scale on the meter.
