Default Mk4 Escort full suspension change?

Ok so I thought I would ask you if this was a easy job to do? now I'm definately no mechanic, so could anyone do me a step by step guide or give me a link to one. I really don't want to pay out for a garage to do it, and I managed to change my corsa ones. I have a haynes book but there normally not much help and it lists it as three spanners

Really straight forward thankfully. If you are keeping the original front shocks then loosen the retaining nut at the top when the weight of the car is on the floor (need a swan neck spanner to be able to reach into the top mount 'cups' and an allen key to stop the shock absorber piston rotating. You WILL need spring compressors for the front - excercise extreme caution here. Rear shocks unbolt from inside the boot similar to fronts and the springs will drop out when the shock is removed.

When doing the front ones remove the bottom pich bolt completely, you may need to push the track control arm downwards to allow the bottom of the shock to be removed.

Use wd40/plusgas on nuts n bolts. You might find taht the front and rear donought bushes need replacing - these are cheap to buy and straight forward to replace - you might need heat/wire brush on the front ARB/Rear tie bars to get the nuts off cleanly.

A tip i give out as well is use single hex sockets to save rounding the really stubborn bolts off giving it welly with bi-hex sockets and save your self a whole load of agro

Bear in mind that worn bushes can make a car handle badly even on new shocks, so give it all a good look over while its apart.
