Default Performance Exhausts Escort Mk4.... cant choose...

Hello,

I got some doubts about several Performance systems for my mk4 XR3i, so I thought let me ask the experts...

I've made a final selection of three systems.

- Piper Exhaust Stainless Steel 4'' slash cut.
- Mongoose Stainless 3.5'' round tailpape

I'm from the netherlands so i will need to order these from the UK because there are only severall suppliers here that sell these brands and when they to they arent cheap, or sell you second hand one's that dont fit

The third choice is an system that I can purchase directly in holland, but I'm not 100% what the make is. I believe its magnex/ jetex?

Was wondering if there are any of you wich have or have had any of these systems, know how the sound and if they are good quality.

Hope some of you can help me decide, cause my project is basiccly standing still because of the exhaust system wich i need to fit ASAP to get the car moving.

Thanks in advance!!

I would go for a piper either inward or outward rolled as slash cut dont suit a mk4 escort imo although ashley do exhausts for an xr3 and have a nice sound to them too, if it was an rst i would say go for a mongoose.

Thanks for sharing your opinion mate! Dunno about an outward rolled one, inward would be my second choice, I havent seen an mk4 escort with something like an slash cut exhaust but i'd think it would look good... Never looked at ashley-exhaust, so might have a look at them. Ow and still running the stock 1.6 EFi-setup so need to have the cat. removed... Do RST's sound better on mongoose then? because of the bigger pipes?

how you got a cat mate in the first place i have had ashley mild steel one years ago sounded lovely and also a mongoose on one aswell which also sounded very nice but the ashley sounded the best maybe because i had a ashley four brance manifold on aswell but the ashley iirc was nearly a Ł100 cheaper.

If you get the Mongoose, you will also need to use an MFi exhaust manifold, downpipe and provide a form of heatshield to protect the plastic inlet trunking by the spark plugs.

My XR3i EFI was the first one using the Mongoose system according to them as they never listed them for the EFI until that point. In their literature, it now states that you need to use the MFi manifold and downpipe.

Piper do a separate exhaust for EFI and MFI.
