Exclamation Focus drivers door central locking

I have a 2002 3dr st170 and it has an issue with the drivers door central locking.
Best way to describe the problem is to put the different ways of locking/unlocking and what happens so here goes.

If i push lock on the keyfob passenger locks fine but drivers door does nothing so naturally the passenger door unlocks again.

if doors are locked and i push unlock on keyfob passeneger unlocks but drivers stay locked.

if i use key in drivers door all doors lock and unlock as normal.

if i use key in passeneger door then it does what it does with keyfob.

so basically the drivers door wont work with the central locking but the central locking will work with the drivers door.

Iv been told that it could be the selonoid in that door but dont know how to check this. Much help appreciated.

A lot of central locking problems are caused by lack of lubrication, causing the unlocking/locking issues, you could try lubricating the drivers lock?

Normally the door motor. Ive had to chage loads of them. Focus' and mondeo's suffer with motors and latch problems all the time.

Also you could check the loom going into the door. They sometime get a broken wire or corroded plug.

its the door latch thats the problem ,they go stiff. there was a recall on the few years back. try lubing it, it might help but my guess is it wont .needs a new latch assy. my daily does it too. try pushing the interior handle back into position as you get out the car.

I gather this goes for back doors aswell?
My Focus central locking is being abit problematic. Sometimes the back O/S door just dosen't work on the central locking and sometimes the central locking bounces back so get the feeling it's something to do with that back door.

its the latch not the lock. get a new one as lube might not fix it or only temporarily.

I always GRESE latches and hinges.

I push the flap back on the door locks with the key slightly then using an oil can sparingly squirt some oil in the locks then move the key in and out a few times , so in the MK1 Focus case that's both front doors and the boot.
