Default 90 Amp Alternator?

Hi guys, hoping you can help me, I've read that a 90 amp alternator off of a Granada 2.9 will fit our RS Turbos (I have a series2).
Does anyone know the part number or the years which it was fitted to the Granada - there seems to be quite a few different ones.
Or failing that, is there anywhere that does new upgraded alternators for our cars? ie higher than the standard 70 amp.

Cheers,

Dale

PS I need a higher amp alternator as I have a GRS Intercooler that blocks air to the car, causing it to get quite warm, I have 2 fans, 1 which I've wired to stay on permanently, keeps the car nice and cool, but also drains the battery all the time.

i have a sierra 90amp unit, getting number off will be nigh on impossible without spending hours on it.
but if you have a starter and alternator repair place in your town, then they'll know what you're after.
they are quite a bit bigger than the 55 and 70amp units, but will fit no worries.

Thanks mate, that was a superfast reply!
So do you reckon any sierra/granada 90 amp alternators will fit, as long as they are the same age? ie 1988.

I certainly would not have the fans on all the time, that is not a good idea, they should only be on when needed, i.e. in long slow moving traffic ques, if anything I would look at changing the fan switch to the "Uprated" one.

The Sierra/Granada 90 amp Bosch unit are the same, and no only high spec Sierra models had this unit although the pulleys may be different on some, not sure if all Granada's would have the same unit either.

Because the car still gets warm. Moving or stopped.
Checked it over and everything is fine, and how it should be in the engine, so can only assume the intercooler is blocking the air.
The fan works to keep the car cool brilliantly, unless I'm stuck in traffic for a long time, then I have another fan on a manual switch.

Sorry, just saw the post above, I tried the cossie fan switch, it didn't help, I also have the puma thermostat, and alloy radiator.
Apart from draining the battery at the moment, having the fan on constantly doesn't seem to produce any other problems.
I also have a 4 litre supercharged Jag, on which the fan stays on constantly, it came out of the factory that way.

But they are still only designed to be operated for a small period of time, not to mention it draws massive power from needed circuits!

Is the intercooler actually designed for the car in the first place, if so then it hasen't been designed very well, plus I would of thought everyone would be having the same problem, who had one.

something is wrong if you need the fans to run all the time.

Yes the intercooler is the one designed specifically for the RS.
I agree that it's probably a crap design, as it seems to be the cause of my engine getting hot.

The fan used to kick in fine with the cossie switch, cool the engine down, switch off, then less than a minute later it'd come back on.

But having the fan on constantly keeps it nice and cool, so doesn't worry me too much - apart from the battery going dead!
