Default ABS system on a MK1 Focus ST170

I have had an issue with the front nearside wheel grabbing until I get to 20mph then it's fine, It is becoming abit annoying, I do have the ABS light staying on once i have got to 20mph an beyond,I have been told that it could be an ABS ECU fault.
I want to get this fixed but my way of fixing it is to rip out the ABS as it's not the best system in the world, but i don't have mk4 bosch money and Mr MOT guy won't give me a special PASS certificate with the ABS bulb being taken out.

Has anyone got any idea's of either an after market system or a replacement or how to fix this.
many thanks guys

Have u actually got it plugged on a machine yet? Only reason I say that, it maybe just the sensor at fault causin the prob by sendin the wrong signal to the ECU possibly

Last year we found the nearside front connection under the wheel arch to be faulty, (one of the 2 pins was corroded) we tried to replace the sensor and splice the connection, it would be best to replace the pins and have a new engine side connector , but i am unsure if from the ABS ECU you can just replace the cable plug and plat as so to speak?

If a sensor failed, it would need to be replaced and have the ABS controller reset to remove the fault. As far as I am aware, this requires specialist software.

I would suspect the offending wheel's sensor that is faulty, have you removed it and try simply cleaning it and the ABS ring?

There is no way to remove the ABS (legally at least) there are ways to try and replicate the action of the ABS light but any decent tester should be able to figure this out. (As this is all that is looked at from a MOT aspect anyway)

Can you not just remove the power to the ABS unit, i.e. disconnect battery etc, AFTER you make sure you have radio codes etc to clear the fault code? Or does it contain "non volatile" memory?
