Default Why does my car only missfire under gradual acceleration???

Bit of a strange one this, or maybe it's an obvious answer I'm not quite sure?
Basically my saph is running great now but seems to have a missfire from 3rd gear onwards and only under gradual acceleration, i.e NOT if I am flooring it. If for example I start in 1st and nail it through all the gears foot flat to the floor its perefectly fine, but if i am sitting on the dual carriageway cruising and slowly and then accelerate in 3rd or higher it usually misses then carries on...... any ideas?

Maybe there is a lean spot in your fuel map at that particular load value?

Get a wideband on it and have a look.

Its unlikely to be anything like plug condition or leads etc if it is doing it at part throttle and not full throttle.

Possibly related to the TPS type issues you have been having with it. Signal breaking down somewhere around mid throttle?

Off boost the TPS has more effect than on boost, so that makes sense.

TBH as he would have to drive past karl norris and stu sanderson, both of whom are L8 experts, seems a bit pointless driving all that way.

It could be plug related as I had a similar problem on my Audi S2 and it turned out to be a duff plug, but it was strange how it was only under gentle acceleration that it did it, you would think giving it full load in all gears it would have been worse.

That is unusual yes, normally ignition issues show themselves most at peak load.

Must admit though, on a YB, i always just change the plugs as a matter of course whenever I come across an issue as they are so frequently eating their way through them!
