When I start my car the battery light is lit until I rev the car and then it goes out.

I thought this may have been down a weak battery but I've fitted a new one today and the light still does the same thing.

Could this be the alternator that is causing this? I haven't had the chance to check voltages etc as my multimeter is at work.

Any ideas?

Mine does this, i thought it was normal as thats what an auto sparky said.

No it's not normal at all, this points to a dicky regulator/rectifier, not worth worrying about unless you're fussy imo, could go on for years still like this.
