Default MPG cant be right?

I know I have mentioned about MPG before but it is actually getting me down now......I mean I would not mind if I had the performance of a Saph Cossie but my performance is the same as my girlfriends MK3 Golf GTI 8v

My car.....

2001 Ford Focus 2.0 Zetec Estate. Full Ford service history....Full service 800 miles ago.

I do a fair bit of town driving and A road driving. Driving like Miss Daisy the best I can get is 300 miles to a tank.....Surely this cant be right....I would have thought more like 400 miles?

ps.... They are 55 litre tanks.

the best way to check the mpg is brim the tank, zero the trip then drive as normal until you need to fill up again. convert the litres you put in into gallons and then do miles on the trip divided by the gallons. only way to get an accurate result. 300 miles does sound about right though, especially if you do a lot of town driving.

Given your mostly town driving I think that's about your lot.
