Hello!
My Mondeo Mk3 (53 plate) has developed a strange problem with the locking, if anybody knows a solution please let me know.
It won't allow me to lock or unlock the car from outside with the remote on the key, I have to use the old fashioned key in the door method. When I unlock it and sit in there I can hear a chime coming from somewhere - if I press the unlock button on the key it stops, although if I press the lock button on the key the alarm will come on.
More peculiar is the fact that the car locks / unlocks fine when using the remote on the key while sitting in the car - a little bit pointless! The battery in the remote is OK I'm sure, I've used both remotes while standing right at the door! Grrr I'm confused and annoyed, any thoughts?

Normally the lock in the drivers door control module. Tricky and diddly to change but very staright forward if you think things through.

Car locks OK though (all doors), it's just that the remote locking won't work from outside the car and whatever that chime is I just don't know!

 

Have you tried to reprogram the key?

 

Not yet, but I'll give it a go when I get the chance, although I think thats unlikely since both keys have failed from outside the car but both work inside the car. I'll go down the road of replacing the battery in one of them also, just in case its a massive coincidence that both ran dry together!

 

Here is my (strange) update.
I went in to town this morning, the car locked and unlocked from the remote without any problems. Stopped at the local Tesco on my way home, again the car locked and unlocked from the remote without problem. Then I arrived home and parked - car won't lock from remote!! Changed the battery for good measure, if I hold the remote against the driver door window it'll work alright, no better than that.
Seems there is some interference after appearing from somewhere near my house?!

 

I had one would not work because of a fm radio transmitter so is it only when parked in a certain place ?

 

There's only one spot for me to park it at my house so yeah it appears to be. It was working fine up until now. I've not been looking to see if the neighbours are having problems, would be interesting to know.
