Default Time to swap

Looks like its time to start looking at another engine for my MK1 Focus.
Starting to get some blue smoke on heavy acceleration and in the high rpms so it seems the piston rings are starting to go

One option is to just replace it with another 1.6 motor. The only reason id consider this is due to the 'sell on' factor (would sell the car as OEM in the future, probably part ex it), but since it wont be the original engine anyway, regardless of size, it will affect the resale value. So the best idea would be to change it to a larger engine? (Insurance is all A'Okay)

Options?
>2.0 blacktop
>ST170 (heard that running a stand-alone means that you dont have to worry about changing the fuel tank and lines? Although that isnt something im particularly worried about)
>RS (VERY hard to find one at the moment, especially at a decent price)

Whilst im not looking to spend £1000's, i dont mind in spending a bit extra to get more benefits. Any other potential engines? 2.3 out of the Galaxy? Duratec?

Ohh..Good idea.
But.. how much of a pain is it to fit? Has it been done before? The Focus is still a daily and i cant have it off the road for long, i know the 2.0 and st170 engines are both 'bolt in' jobs and don't require any custom fabrication.

We've fitted one into a MK6 Escort, 260 brake, everything needed locking wire, it shook everything to bits, it was such a good car. Chassis rails need adjusting so, what you're looking for i wouldn't go Atmo FWD. ST170 engines are very good, modern day BDG. We've had 292BHP out of a normally aspirated one.

i have been looking at the ST170 setup for a while and id imagine the cars' price wont drop to drastically if i was to sell it with one in (selling the car in its modified state)

I don't really know what to say, i don't think of what the car will be worth when it's finished, i build what i want.

i understand your view point but since i dont want to keep the focus its just trying to spend as little as possible, but sometimes you have to spend more to gain more.

Il be looking at a BMW or Scoob next

So whats the idea of doing all this for it?
What is the appeal of Scoobies? I think they're horrible, well i suppose it depends on which one you get.

..Because i still need a daily driver and i cant change car until November (Quinn Direct are the most shocking company ever!) Im just looking to replace the engine and leave it at that
I just have a feeling that a ST170 converted Focus will go for more than just a 2.0 Blacktop, could be wrong though, has been known

Oh, and the scoob is 4WD = pretty much as much power as id like, and being able to put it on the ground. (i can insure a scoob but not an evo)

Just got to wait to see if i can pick up any bargains soon
