Get a kit from weber alpha or jenvey. Put it on and take it to somewhere like motorsport developments to get it mapped.

If you want to do it on the cheap bolt a pair of Weber 45 carburettors on it with a low pressure fuel pump (about 4.5 PSI) and do away with the injection wiring and just use the ECU for sparks. Take it to a rolling road to get it jetted and choked correctly, be about 500 quid (ish)

If it's the 143 Brake model you wouldn't see 200 with throttle bodies, maybe 170 but then you need cams to reach full performance of the throttle bodies.

CARBS DONT GO THRU AN MOT!!!!!!!!! Jesus. It won't pass emissions on a car that was originally fitted with fuel injection. And the spark won't advance or retard correctly if you simply hack out half the loom.

On the cheap use bike throttle bodies and megasquirt and get a manifold from bogg bros.

As an aside, if you have thousands of pounds worth of engine why are scrimping on the most important part of the engine.

I've replied to this in the other thread. However, fuel and spark are two completely different things.
Timing and spark duration times can adjusted across the RPM range. Additionally, timing advance will be calculated for a variety of inputs including increasing RPM vs. decreasing RPM (braking, coasting, or accelerating), throttle position, temperature, altitude, etc. The ECU is still controlling sparks therefore the timing.

Well it's a minimum of 500 quid just for the mapping, it's very time consuming. You'll be looking at 1k on the cheap.

May be a lot of money but it will give you a lot more performance and your cams now have the full potential they were designed for.

The OEM manifold will restrict it.

A few people have gone the route of GSXR750 TB's, megasquirt v3 ecu, an map it yourself and seen some very impressive results.

I've seen it done for £500 all in!

Surely they must have done it themselves then? Or put a base map on it.

Just about any ecu that you buy will carry a base map to get you running. There is an MS dealer near Bristol that did an ecu and map for £300. Can't remember their name.

But the zetec throttle bodied approach is done by sooooo many kit car peeps there are loadsa maps to choose that will see good power.

I've mapped megasquirt myself and it's really not too hard with a wideband lambda.

I've never done a megasquirt before, i just heard that they're not very nice. We use DTA a lot, first time i looked at it i didn't know what i was looking at, used to it now, we mapped a full race ST170 using a laptop lol.

Churtz I said this further up. These two are in their own world, I'd leave them to it if I were you.
