Default Help needed Escort RS Turbo - Idle problem

Hi everyone

I've got a problem with my turbo, it's in the garage at the moment but the mechanic can't work out the problem.

Originally my car wouldn't idle, the mechanic thought it was something to do with the fuel system so I have replaced the fuel metering unit. Now it will idle for around 5 mins before cutting out but then won't restart unless you press down on the plunger on the metering unit or wait until the engine gets cold again.

Has anyone got any ideas? I haven't had this problem before, I only use my car in summer, it was fine last year, over the winter I have fitted a Kent Cam and a KN panel filter but I can't see that being the problem......

When you fitted the cam was it new? If it was did you carry out the correct bedding in procedure of keeping it at 2500 - 3000 RPM for about 30 mins and not letting it idle? I'm not saying this is the problem just thought i'd say it. What happens if you start it and just keep the throttle at just over idle speed, does it still cut out?

Well that Cam will bite you in the ass at some point. Does it take a while to start and does it do it when it's hot?
