Default Pinto motor build

Hi everyone, I am building a 2 litre Pinto engine and I am very limited because I live in Australia and parts over here are very expensive especially Cosworth stuff anything with a twin cam head (Ford) are hard to come by.
Anyway, my 2 Litre is going to be bored out to 40 thou oversize, I have a set of CAT racing con rods but I was hoping to stroke the engine, I also have a set of imported USA 2.3 litre rods, I was hoping to use these rods to stroke the motor. Has anyone done this before or know if this is even possible? Any information on stroking this type of engine would be handy.
Great website, been reading for awhile but only just joined up.

Cheers and thanks
Darryl

If you're gunna stroke it try and use long rods, they reduce rod angle when rotating.

Thanks Marco

Is that the red "Des Hammill" book ? As i have that book and it has no info on how to turbo or stroking a pinto... I want to run the sierra efi and head and then put a turbo on it I am going to take the pistons off the rods (2.3L) and get a length on them... Not as fancy as the h'beam C.A.T one's but as i said they don't stroke the motor, the 2.3L one's are longer but how long ? I was told that you can get pistons that have a high g/pin but i am having prob's with getting turbo pistons at a good price, EG: $1,100 aust for turbo piston kit no pins or clips....
I think a dummy fit up is the way to go, No one seems to have the easy answer to this rod dilemma (will they fit) so I will have to put one in and see if it clears everything and will not hit the head ...

Thanks, Daz...

1100 dollars is what? 700 quid? 800 quid? That is about right for a set of forged pistons im afraid. Well you get a 2.3 Haynes Manual and a Pinto Haynes Manual, they will have big end and main diameters so you can compare them, if you do a dummy build use plasti gauge to tell you if they are a good fit, it comes in little strips, you put it on lets say, the big end and bolt a rod onto it, then release the rod and the pasti gauge will have spread out, it comes with a measurement chart to show you if it's alright. But if i'm honest if you're going to Turbo it, use the H beam steel rods (if thats what CAT are)
