Default Focus 2005 / MK2 Door lock install

Hi,

I am new to this forum but am hoping someone can help me....

I have a 2005 / MK2 (newer shape) Ford Focus 5 door hatchback, I need to fit a new rear door locking mechanism which I have purchased new from Ford.

I have removed the interior trim panels with no problems but now I am stuck !
I now have a thin silver metal panel that I can remove the bolts from and also the 3 torx bolts on the inside of the door.
This panel will not come away from the door, it feels as if the lock is holding eveything in place.

Think I'm almost there but do not want to damage any parts by removing with force!

Any help / advice / pictures much appreciated.

Thanks,
Stuart.

If I remember right Stuart this is also held on with a sealent so you will need to carefully prise it off.

Thanks but it is attached mechanically, there is a small amount of sound deadening material that is held by sealant but not the lock assembly ????

you need to remove the glass..the bolts for this are behind 2 little foam covers..there is a bead of pre-set sealer which you gently prise away from the door..then lift the bottom of the metal panel up and out, then pull the lot down..this is because the tracks for the glass mechanism are longer than the hole in the door, hence the need to 'wriggle' it out.. you will then need to remove the wiring to have full access to inside of the door..hope that makes sense, thats the best way i can explain it
