Default pinto injection wont idle

there is a few have raised this (common) problem but no one has a answer to fix it ..

I rebuilt the engine up after getting it all powder coated, v hard to start and wont idle , cuts out if i dont rev it...

the last time it ran like this i had a split in the induction pipe which was long since replaced..

b4 the rebuild the car was idling at 1900 rpm and if i disconnected the idle sensor then dropped to 1000 rpm

now i can hardly get it to start , runs lumpy back firing .. and cuts out
please help

is timing etc ok ? as if it was running ok before rebuild then got to be something you've done ?
might be worth double checking everything

Good advice above, go through everything again, backfiring would point to normally ignition timing out, but there are other causes, valve clearances too tight as well.

timing was doulbe checked , the valves were reground and seated , do you think it is sticking tappets?

very unlikely , leads on the right way ? gaps on plugs ? just go through everything step by step it will prob be something silly in the end
