Default Cam Timing

the car is running ok but idle is lumpy as hell and shakes the car. im gonna tweak the timing some more. all i did was retard the exhaust cam a bit. i think its a little too far tho as there doesnt seem to be as much up top but there does seem to be more lower end torque.

how much (roughly) should i advance the exhaust cam to get power in the high revs but not lose much of my new found torque?

if no one can help i was thinking of trying it in small increments, around a degree or so each time and then runnign the car for a little bit to see how the altered timing has affectedthe engine and power.
