Default coverting wings to bolt.

how hard is it convert the front wings of a mk4 escort to bolt on?. Is it a case of drill out the welds and redo with 8mm bolts.. how do you sort out the slam panel join?..

Are the spot 8mm or 10mm?

all idea welcome

i did this but i spot welded a 3mm plate under the wing rail and drilled and tapped bolts into it, the slam panel you can use self tapping bolts like the ones used to secure flat roof trim, can be bought from b&Q, you also need to bolt it on to the a A post

to be honest it depends who put the wing on, there could be alot of welds, just be carefull and use a spotweld removal drill bit so you dont damage the wing rail, the proble is the a post as its normally mig welded on

afaik it's a MOT fail, where welded by any means originally it has to be the same when replaced, so might pay to check with your mot man first ?
